Hosted by Chinese Mass Spectrometry Society and organized by College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering of Peking University, the 5th Asia Oceania Mass Spectrometry Conference & 33rd Annual Conference of Chinese Mass Spectrometry Society has been held and concluded successfully. Over 100 scientists in the field of mass spectrometry have been invited to speak at the conference. Overall, the meeting attracted more than 700 participants from all over the world. In addition, a number of oversea and domestic companies showcased their latest products and services during the conference as well.
Among over 600 registrants, there are more than 100 attendees coming from abroad. In total, we received about 300 abstract submissions including ~200 poster presentations. These record-high numbers undoubtedly made our conference the largest among all the AOMSC meetings that have been held thus far. We selected 17 participants who won the best poster award sponsored by the ACS publications. As a tradition, right before the conference Young Scientist Forum had been held. About 70 graduate students or postdoctoral fellows gathered in this event and exchanged their scientific ideas. Among them, 25 young scholars were presented with travel awards sponsored generously by Shimadzu Corporation.
Overall we believe this conference offered an important platform for scientific exchanges and communications among researchers in the broader filed of mass spectrometry. It also provided us the opportunity to learn about the latest updates on the MS developments as well as applications in various fields including omics, food and drug, and environmental analyses. We sincerely hope everyone participant has benefited and enjoyed both the scientific program and social events during the 3-day conference.
Lastly as a general announcement, the 6th AOMSC will be held at Brisbane, Australia next year and we look forward to meeting you again in 2015!
